Heritage
Heritage apartment on the Atlantic Seaboard in Cape Town was originally a dark and poky space with small rooms, long passageways and only one bathroom. We gutted and rebuilt it, converting it into a contemporary open-plan space bathed in light and warmth. The result was a delightful two-bedroom (both en-suite) apartment with a guest toilet and an open-plan living and kitchen area.
It was important not to lose the old aesthetic and heritage feel whilst modernising and maximising the space. As a heritage building, it was important to retain the original wooden flooring, cast iron fireplace and the windows and doors. We kept the overall heritage style and added steel office doors, slate and granite flooring, marble counters and custom-made basins.
